Greetings, friends and fiends!
Monthly progress blog number two! So far, so good! I managed to get a blog article up every week this past month, though one was holiday-themed. It still counts! I have historically been a challenge for me to write stuff in a timely manner, so I'm feeling pretty good about my progress so far.
The Sorcerer's Return is at the printers
The first round of PDFs was sent out a few weeks back, and after two rounds of proofs, I have ordered the final physical copies! As soon as I get them, I'll start mailing them out to backers, put the print and PDF versions up for sale here, and make the final PDFs available on DriveThruRPG and itch.io.

JordyCon
Jordy Williams of Wizards With Laser Rifles, author of the amazing Silam series, held a birthday party, where he ran a drop-in dungeon crawl from 10 am until 10 pm. IDK the source dungeon (I think it was B/X?), but the ruleset he used was DCC RPG. It was a LOT of fun!

Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother soundtrack
I'm leaning hard into my upcoming crowdfunding campaign for Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother. I've decided to produce an animated banner for the Backerkit page that will highlight the art and tease the plot of the adventure. I contracted with composer Mat on Fiverr to produce the two-minute theme. I am super happy with the results. I asked for something that built from John Carpenter/Tangerine Dream to Ufomammut, and I think he did it. Check it out below:
Also, please sign up to follow the campaign for Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother. According to BackerKit, I need 150 followers at campaign launch to ensure it funds, and I was at 116 when I last checked.
Upcoming cons
Midwinter Gaming Con
January 8 - 11, 2026 - Pewaukee, WI
Midwinter is another great convention in Wisconsin. I'll be running seven sessions, including all of the "Sorcerer's" adventures for DCC RPG. Three of the sessions will be dedicated to playtesting the latest adventure: "The Sorcerer's Slumber." There are still a few open seats!
Polar Vortex
February 13 - 25, 2026 - Lisle, IL
This will be my second year at Polar Vortex. Last year was great! It's a small con very close to my home in Chicago, but it packs in a lot of awesome games. Pathfinder and D&D dominate the TTRPG offerings, but there are a healthy number of DCC RPG games, and last year, even some Neon Lords of the Toxic Wasteland. I'm running a few playtests for Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother—two for 5E and one for DCC. Then I'm rounding things off on Sunday with a battle-royal session of Car Wars Classic.
Future cons
- 2026-03-19: Gary Con XVIII
- 2026-05-01: Dungeon Con 2026
Upcoming projects
Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother
I am insanely honored to have been included in the upcoming Goodman Games Backerkit campaign for their mega-dungeon Castle Whiterock! It's going to be similar to Mothership Month, or the previous DCC Purple Planet campaign, with multiple creators supplying adventures set in and around Castle Whiterock.
I am writing an adventure for DCC RPG and 5E called Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother. It is a 0-level funnel for DCC, and a 1-level adventure for 5E. It is going to be a gruesome descent into the bowels of the earth. Think Aliens or C.H.U.D. (definitely more on the C.H.U.D. side).
Please sign up to follow the campaign. If you do, you'll get a FREE DCC RPG PDF pamphlet hex-crawl funnel!

The Sorcerer's Conundrum
Part three of the "Sorcerer's" series, a level-2 zine for DCC RPG, has been thoroughly playtested and will be written and illustrated over the next six months. I was overly ambitious in the timeline I proposed last month, though. I won't have it ready to crowdfund as part of Zine Quest/Topia in February 2026. With Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother launching in April, it was just too much. Look for it to crowdfund in June of 2026.
The Sorcerer's Slumber
Part four of the "Sorcerer's" series, a level-3 zine for DCC RPG, is currently being playtested. If you want to be part of that, I plan to run it at most of the cons I attend, up through Dungeon Con in May 2026. I ran three sessions at Gamehole, and I'll be running three more at Midwinter Gaming Con in January. In this adventure, the characters must navigate the mad sorcerer's dreams and nightmares to free him from a demon that has invaded his subconscious. Think Psychonauts or Dreamscape, maybe a little The Magnus Archives.
At the Bürgermeister's Behest & The Arrogance of Husbandry
Each of the "Sorcerer's" series is intended as a one-shot that progresses through levels zero to five. Since some folks might want to do things the Right Way®, I decided to make some supplements for judges who wish to use XP leveling. To that end, I am creating three pamphlet adventures that will span the XP gap between The Sorcerer's Conundrum and The Sorcerer's Slumber. They can be run as one-shots, or taken together, they tell the story of a visit to the town of Aufgebläht to procure winter supplies. The first, Aufgebläht or Bust, was available as part of DCC Day 2025 and is available in the Nerdronomicon shop. If you sign up to follow Mutant Spawn of the Toadmother on Backerkit, you can get a free copy of the PDF. I plan to have parts two and three done and available as add-ons for the crowdfunding campaign for The Sorcerer's Conundrum.
Basilisk
This one is a bit of a departure from my DCC RPG grimdark fantasy catalogue. Basilisk is an adventure zine for the sci-fi horror game Mothership. It is a mind-bending horror scenario with multiple, optional layers of play that submerge players into a world where reality is untrustworthy at best and deadly at worst. If you like feeling your grip on reality slip away, this one is for you. I hope to have it ready for Mothership Month 2026.
New blog posts
Dr. Smith got under my skin
After all these years, Johnathan Harris' Dr. Smith from the 1965 TV series Lost in Space still lives rent-free in my head.
Happy THX-Giving!
Just a little note wishing y'all a happy THX-Giving.
Mœbius changed the world
Another in a never-ending series of artist appreciation posts. This one covers Jean Henri Gaston Giraud (aka Mœbius), a pivotal French artist, cartoonist, and writer.
