Zine Month 2026

It's ZiMo! Zine Quest! ZineTopia!

What is/are all of those things? Here's a short link-riddled primer, followed by some of the campaigns that captured my attention, and a lot of my dough.

Zines are DIY, self-published magazines which, according to Wikipedia, started with Fire!! a literary zine during the Harlem Renaissance. They have been a staple of small, dedicated communities since. Zimoquestopia centers TTRPGs.

Per Kickstarter: "Zine Quest is Kickstarter’s annual open call celebrating small-format RPG zines—and it's a great opportunity for you to contribute to that format's storied history."

Per ZiMo: "ZiMo came into being after Kickstarter showed why it wasn't a great idea to put all your eggs on one platform by cancelling/postponing their Zine Quest event in 2022 at very late notice and going all-in on blockchain."

And finally, per Backerkit: "A Small-format TTRPG crowdfunding Group-Collab event on BackerKit celebrating Zine Month [...], a month-long online celebration observed every February by the tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) community where creators share and launch new DIY zines."
